Choice of Direction

Luke 6:27-28: “But I say unto you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those that curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you.”

What two powerful verses these are - so contrary to the carnal nature, but “the entrance of these words gives light, it gives understanding to the simple,” Ps. 119:130. The word “entrance” literally means an opening where light (or truth) gives direction in life. To follow this direction is healthy.

We hear a lot these days about making healthy choices in the types of foods we eat. Nutrition is important and is a factor to good health. We need to be mindful of what we put into our temples, but we also need to be mindful of our spiritual choices. God’s way is always the best way. It’s seldom the easy way, but it’s the profitable way.

When the harsh words come at you, the injustices happen, the abuse is inflicted, and everything within you wants to take offense, retaliate, become resentful -- STOP -- make a choice -- CHOOSE God’s direction. The Holy Spirit will help you to love, do good, bless, and pray. Not only will it release the offender to receive from God, it will cause your soul to prosper; and a prosperous soul is a gateway to a healthy body.
